Spring and Love is in the air

Saturday, April 22nd was  a Day to remember for me. It was six months since Joe died.
But it was also the day my son David married Jennifer. There are always lots of pictures to be taken at a wedding and this one was no exception. It seems everyone there had a camera.

David's sister and my beautiful daughter Sheila
David is the youngest of my three grown children.

Sheila has eight grandchildren and this is the  youngest one.

Today my family grew by five.  I welcome daughter in law Jennifer,( I really don't like the word "in law" they are all my kids), her daughter Cassie and sons Justin, Ray, and Ben.   Jennifer's Dad is in the back row between Cassie and Justin. What makes me so proud, but sad they couldn't be there, is, I have 13 more family members not in this picture. My oldest son and his family and David's daughter and her husband. I am truly a blessed woman!
May 13th is another big day in this grandma's life. My grandson Brandon is marrying his best friend, Jess Schwartz in Windsor, Colorado.  For more than one reason, I can't go back there, but I am thrilled beyond words because they are having a second reception here in Oregon that I WILL be at.  Pictures to follow in a few weeks.

It was a beautiful day yesterday and It seemed like everyone in Clackamas County was outside and a huge share of them were here at Al's Nursery in Gresham!!  I bought a couple of indoor plants. I have plenty sitting in temporary pots outside waiting to be planted in their permanent homes.

Spring Is "Bustin" Out All Over

I opened my door this morning to greet the morning and look what was resting right across the driveway from me.  I saw three of these sweet little things this morning.

Now that the weather is getting nicer I'm enjoying doing my walking outside. Beautiful colors.

I've increased my step goal to 5,000 now and I made that goal today. I wish the songs of the many birds could be heard in these pictures.

Who is this tall lady with a cane? Just me walking in the sunshine that's casting the shadow. Sure feels good.

As I was walking back to the house I thought I saw something move between the trees..... sure enough!! She just stood there in the clearing looking at me, letting me take all the pictures I wanted. I had been told there were deer  here now and then but this is the first time I've seen one here.
Even the weeds know it's spring.

This is my back yard. And it is so quiet and peaceful.

I don't know what kind of "tree" this is but the leaves (or flowers) on it are sparsely spaced and it makes it look so pretty

This is a close up of the flower on it.

I'm watching the weather closely these days, and it looks like I will be able to take the cover off my glider and leave it off for a few days. That means spending more time outside listening to the birds while I'm reading. Well that's it for a few days.  Enjoy your week. I know I will.

Girls Day Out

Today was a warm, beautiful, blue sky day and two of my dear friends and I went to the  Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm.

This is just a very small portion of the line of cars coming in to the Tulip Farm. As far as you could see was a line of cars.

I wrote about the tulip farm last week and how wet and muddy it was.
Today was much different. We still wore boots but it wasn't nearly as muddy as it was last week.

The blooms were beautiful

It seems everyone was enjoying a break in the weather.

As we were leaving this beautiful 61 VW bus pulled up.

I asked the gentleman above if he was the owner and he proudly said yes and he only takes it out when the sun is shining.
We finished our day with our regular trip to Bauman Farms and our not so regular visit to Al's Nursery in Woodburn. I purchased  Heliotrope and beautiful Red Zonal Geraniums. Now I just have to wait for a break in the forcasted rain for the next 10 days to plant them in my planters.

Tomorrow will be six months since Joe died....an emotional day for sure because  It will also be a wonderful day as I welcome a new daughter in law to the family. My son David will be marrying Jennifer. After the wedding, later in the day, I will then watch my great grandson play T Ball if it doesn't get rained out. Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday I was holding this little guy as a newborn in my arms.

Yet Another First

April the giraffe FINALLY, had her baby Saturday morning April 15th. It's a boy. It was amazing being able to watch the birth via live stream. The giraffe's home is in Harpursville, New York. It's name will be determined by a contest being held by Animal Adventure Park. I have to admit I was pretty much glued to the TV the last week of April the giraffe's pregnancy so now I'm catching up on much needed sleep.
I'm not one to routinely visit cemeteries, but it was a beautiful day Saturday before Easter so  I took a drive up to Willamette National Cemetery where Joe is buried. He always laughed that if that fir tree ever came down he'd never be able to find Rai, his late wife's grave..and now his also.   I have to admit it does help me but I also know exactly where it is

The grounds were beautifully groomed but still very wet and mushy.

My sweet apartment was decorated with flowers and cards from family and friends. It was a beautiful Easter.

My Easter Sunday morning started with attending a Sunrise service at Happy Valley Baptist Church at 7:00 A.M. This was the beautiful scene I saw at 6:15 A.M. as I unlocked the gate to leave.

And driving down the highway the beauty continued with the sunrise and Mt. Hood. After the  sunrise service, followed by breakfast at my church then Sunday School and Church, I visited with some very special friends staying over a couple of days at Fairview RV Park before heading on to their next destination.

This is Toby. Toby "owns" this coach. I'm not a great lover of dogs, but this one I am. Shhhh I don't think he knows he's a dog.

One of Toby's favorite things to do... watch out the window.

All you have to do is say the word "kitty"  and his up and looking...

And meet my friends Scott and Lois. I agree Scott, the visit wasn't long enough but I was thrilled for the time I had with you two..excuse me, the three of you. Thanks for the game of Fast Track and for helping get my car ready to have the bumper attached. (May 3rd)

And Lois, thank you again for the girl talk time. It really helped me. I'll be keeping your sister in my prayers. October can't come fast enough. See you then.

So Saturday will be six months . Six long months that I've been a widow. It's still difficult to even say that word. But  never the less it's a fact. Looking back I think I'm doing pretty good. I still have my "sad" days, sometimes with no warning the tears will come. But I wipe them away and move on. I'm getting to know my church family better, and am starting to go and enjoy the activities there.  Financial situations that I worried about are no longer keeping me awake. I take life one day at a time thanking the Lord in the morning for that day asking Him to show me how He can use me and in the evenings I thank him for his watch care over me .

Meaningful Flowers and Misc Pictures

In Memory of Grandpa Joe. He loved yellow roses and knowing her artistic abilities, I asked Heather to draw me a picture . She did, then  Al, the owner of the Artsmith in Estacada and I chose an 11X14 frame. I'm not good with colors at all but he is so together we chose the colors for the double mat.

I got it back today and it has it's place of honor right under our Barometer. Thank you Heather
I take this road a lot because there is a traffic light close by there making it easier for me to get on the main highway to the post office, the grocery store or any other place I have to go. The mountain was so pretty this morning.
Along this same road lambs are jumping and scampering around in the field with in view of their parents.  These are triplets. Another momma had twins. I wish I knew what breed they were. Their sweet little faces look like Shar Pei puppies. And they are tan in color.

As I came in the driveway this morning I patiently waited to park the car because this little robin was taking it's morning bath.... You can see it a little better if you click on the picture.

We have a little strip mall in Damascus that among other stores has a BiMart, a Dollar Store and a Papa Murphy's Pizza Store. These beautiful flower bushes, I'm sorry I don't know the name of them, are part of the landscaping in the parking lot.

I try to keep fresh flowers either on the table or the counter. It brightens up a grey, cloudy rainy day.

These pretty pink roses are part of a story, a little blessing from the Lord.  After almost six months I figured it was time to go through the cards that were in Joe's wallet. Destroy the ones that weren't needed and put away the ones I wanted to keep.  Among them were three Fred Meyer gift cards, two Starbucks gift cards, and a Subway gift card.  I took them to the new Fred Meyers store not far from where I live and what a delightful surprise.  I went to customer service and told her why I was there. She checked the balances and told me there was a total of $85 dollars between the three cards.  I asked her if I could put them all on one card and had to wait while she called the supervisor over.  I thought it was taking a long time, but the above roses are why it took longer than usual.  Her answer was "no we can't do that" but we are so sorry for your loss and we wanted you to have these roses"   Another time that I was at a loss for words and the eyes got a little "leaky" I thanked her and took the cards with the balance written on each one and the beautiful roses and walked towards the little Starbucks counter in the same store. The first Card ....0 balance but the 2nd card $10!! Joe didn't drink coffee but he did like the Vanilla Bean Frappacino  cold drink. The cards must have been a gift from when he was employee of the month when he worked at Miramont Pointe.  Oh I also found 2 gift cards to Regal Cinemas. I guess I should have gone through those cards a long time ago but it was just to painful.

Sunday will be another first for me. Easter Sunday with out my Joe. Our tradition was to go to Sunrise service, breakfast out followed by church service. I always had an Easter Lily. This year I chose not to get one. I can enjoy them in the stores and at church. I did have a time of sadness thinking about my first Easter alone. He won't be sitting beside me as we watch the sunrise come through the window of the church but I also had  a wonderful thought that I feel the Lord placed in my heart that put a smile on my face. Joe WILL see the sunrise!! Just from a different angle. ....He will be looking down at the sunrise and what a wonderful, wonderful thought, He will be with the SON!!! Easter Sunday with the very one who was born,  who died and rose again that I might have eternal life with Him, and with Joe and all my loved ones one day soon.  Happy Easter everyone.
