Learning A New Outdoor Game

We arrived at Pilot Knob, Winterhaven, CA. Tuesday and were so happy to be able to park exactly where we were hoping we could. Very close to the horseshoe pits and  Bocce Ball Court.
And more happy  news for us, we hear the swimming pool here is in the process of being fixed. Hope that is so.

While we were in St David, AZ Joe tried his hand at Bocce Ball while I watched. So today I played too and found I really enjoyed the game.  I'm not the best, but I'm not too bad either.

It is a game we can both enjoy playing. If you look closely at the above picture, the Bocce Ball Court is laid out between the two horseshoe pits.  Why you say?  It is the most level place with the least amount of rocks and pebbles.  A big shout out to Barb and Gordon for laying out, and digging and grooming the court.  All by hand.  All Volunteer. The game is challenging in the fact you never know when a little rock is going to work its way up out of the dirt and send your ball flying anywhere but where you wanted it to go. We had a lot of laughs

I look forward to the evening sunsets.Sometimes orange, other evenings pink but I really liked this one tonight.

  1. I've never played Bocce Ball. However, it certainly does look like a lot of fun. We've stayed at the park in Pilot Knob several times. Now trying to get on Resort Parks to book another one in Yuma.

  2. Glad you git the site you wanted, enjoy the great weather there and have fun.

  3. My family is Italian. We play Bocce Ball at every outdoor gathering. Glad you enjoy it.

  4. I've always wanted to try Bocce Ball but have never found anyone to teach me. That said, I am notoriously bad at ball games of any kind.

  5. Glad you and Joe are having fun with your new game. Lovely sunset picture.
