What do you think? The Kenny Rogers I remember is on the left. By his own admission, he had the Plastic Surgery for a more youthful look. Enough about his looks. At almost 76 he walks a little slower now but then at almost 73 so do I. When he started singing to his audience of almost 2,000 He is the same old Kenny Rogers. Some of the songs he sang were “The
Gambler,” “Lady,” “Islands in the Stream” and "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille. I started smiling when he started singing it because it brought back a memory of me and my brother, who is with the Lord now . Once upon a time in a small town I won't name, my brother, who was a pastor in that town, was asked to officiate at the funeral of a local resident. I don't remember why I was there, but probably because I play the piano and organ and was asked to provide the music for the service. We were seated on the front row in the little funeral home listening to recorded music, waiting for the service to start when my brother started quietly laughing, leaned over to me, and whispered "listen to that song", which happened to be "You Picked A Fine TimeTo Leave Me Lucille" I whispered back "so, what's so funny about that?" Well it seems the husband, a fan of country music, thought it would be nice to include that particular song in the prelude as his beloved wife's name was......... Lucille. The old funeral director in me just had to tell that story.
