Sometimes It's Almost In Your Back Yard

In twenty four days, we traveled through eleven states, saw canyons, mountains, deserts , wheat fields, soybean fields, corn fields, fields of sunflowers, days of temperatures over 100 degrees, lightning, thunder and heavy rain showers. It was fun watching Joe reconnect with friends he hadn't seen since he was a high school freshman, and cousins he hadn't seen in anywhere from 40 to 60 years.

Monday, we headed West towards home. The first day Fargo, North Dakota to Miles City, Montana. Day two, Miles City to St. Regis, Montana and Wed from St. Regis to Kennewick, Washington.

Thursday Morning, we decided because of the wild fires near the Dalles area, we chose to take Highway 12 over White Pass through, Packwood, Morton, Mossyrock and then I-5 Home. Joe had never been this way. I have been over it many times growing up in Washington.

The scenery was incredible!

This was the highlight stop of the day. I grew up in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, but I never tire of seeing it again.

Loved the flowers around the parking lot

What more can I say except.....Beautiful.

As we got closer to the Glen Jackson Bridge near the airport, and saw this freeway parking lot, it warmed my heart to know we were "back home"

  1. You did have a fun time on your tour, but so glad our home is in farm country, we try to avoid those parking lots.

  2. I'm happy for you that it's been both a wonderful trip and you're finally home. The question is: When do you hit the road again?! Thanks for sharing all the fun photos.

  3. Highway 12 is one of my favorite scenic roads, especially around Mount Rainier. Welcome home!

  4. Beautiful pictures. You two certainly had a wonderful adventure, and more to come, I'm sure. Hope you have a wonderful birthday.

  5. Hi Betty and Joe:
I've been so remiss in reading and writing posts. Your trip sounds wonderful - do yo do any of the driving? It's great to 'catch up,' or maybe become acquainted again with old old old friends, right Joe?
The photos are beautiful and I'm really getting itchy to head out again; but it looks like the next big trip will be to South America - on a cruise in December.

  6. I love that drive! And really when the mountain is out in all her glory is there anything more inspiring?
